Locksmith Franchise Opportunities — Canada

Territories open · BC · AB +
Own thenext city.

Fast Locksmith grew from one van in Surrey to eight city teams by doing the boring things well: answer the phone, show up fast, quote upfront. Now we're franchising the whole system — brand, dispatch, booking tech, and a website network that already ranks — to one owner-operator per territory.

► 01 / Why locksmithing

A trade that doesn't wait for the economy.

People lock themselves out in booms and in recessions. The work is urgent, local, and paid on completion.

A mobile locksmith business is one of the leanest service trades there is: no storefront, no inventory room, no build-out. The shop is a fitted van, and the demand is generated the moment someone closes a door with the keys on the wrong side of it.

What kills most independent locksmiths isn't a lack of work — it's the unanswered 3 a.m. phone, the website that never ranks, and the feast-or-famine of doing the job and the marketing alone. That's exactly the part Fast Locksmith centralizes. You run the trucks and own your market; the head office answers every call, books the jobs, and keeps your city site at the top of the search results.

  • Emergency-driven demand — customers call ready to buy, not to browse
  • Mobile model: low overhead, no lease, no storefront staff
  • Repeat commercial work — strata, property managers, retail chains
  • Protected territory — one owner per city, full stop
► 02 / The system

What you get.

Everything we built for our own eight cities, packaged for yours.

► 03 / How it works

From enquiry to first job.

No pressure funnel — a conversation, a visit, and a launch plan.

01

Apply & talk

Email us your city and background. If it looks like a fit, we'll set up a call and send the full franchise package.

02

Discovery & territory

Spend a day riding with a Lower Mainland team, see the numbers, and lock in your protected territory.

03

Train & launch

Licensing, training, van fit-out, and your city website built — then dispatch starts sending you jobs.

► 04 / Open territories

Where we're going next.

BC first, then west to east. One owner per city — once a territory is taken, it's taken.

► 05 / The fit

Who we're looking for.

The trade can be taught. The standard can't be faked.

  • Owner-operators who want to be on the tools, at least for the first year
  • Tradespeople, techs, and career-changers welcome — locksmith experience helps but isn't required
  • Clean criminal record — it's a legal requirement for locksmith licensing, not just our preference
  • Working capital for a fitted van, tooling, and a few months of runway — we'll walk you through realistic numbers in the franchise package, with no invented "average earnings" promises
  • The temperament to show up at 3 a.m. politely

We'd rather leave a territory open than fill it with the wrong operator. The brand is only worth what the last customer's experience says it is.

► 06 / Franchise FAQ

Asked every time.

Do I need to be a licensed locksmith already?
No. Many of our best techs came from other trades. We train you on the bench and on ride-alongs, and we guide you through your province's security-licensing process (in BC, that's a locksmith licence under the Security Services Act). You do need a clean criminal record — that part is law.
How much does a Fast Locksmith franchise cost?
The full cost breakdown — initial fee, van fit-out, tooling, and working capital — is in the franchise disclosure package we send to qualified applicants. Industry-wide, mobile locksmith franchises in Canada typically launch for far less than a storefront business because there's no lease or build-out; we keep ours in that lean tradition. We don't publish a number here because we'd rather give you the real, itemized one in writing.
What does the head office actually do day-to-day?
Answers your territory's phone 24/7, quotes from the shared pricing playbook, books jobs into your schedule, runs your city website and its local SEO, handles review collection, and negotiates supplier pricing. You do the jobs, build local commercial relationships, and bank the revenue.
Is the territory really exclusive?
Yes. One owner per city, defined by municipal boundaries in the agreement. We built eight city teams without ever overlapping two operators — anti-cannibalization is a design rule of the whole network, right down to which neighbourhoods each website is allowed to target.
How long until I'm taking calls?
It depends mostly on licensing timelines in your province and how quickly the van comes together. For a prepared applicant, the path from signed agreement to first dispatched job is typically a few months, not a year — training, fit-out, and the website build run in parallel.
Can I own more than one city?
Eventually, yes — several of our Lower Mainland teams cover adjacent territories. We ask new franchisees to prove out one city first. Multi-territory rights are written into the agreement as options, so nobody can buy your expansion path out from under you.
